About Surebet Monitor: arbitrage betting since 2011

Surebet Monitor began in 2011 as a surebet scanner written by people who bet, not by people who write about betting. Today it is a free surebet calculator with a catalog of nearly 20,000 ready-made bet combinations, run by the same team.

Our story

A surebet scanner, 2011

In 2011 bookmakers moved their prices slowly, lines could drift several percent apart, and arbitrage was won by whoever had the faster tools. Surebet Monitor combed the bookmakers' offers and caught the combinations in which every outcome could be backed at a profit.

Surebet Monitor 2.0, June 2011: 67 surebets on the list, and below it a calculator that splits one stake across three bets at three bookmakers for a 1.62% profit.

Next to the program we wrote a blog about arbitrage betting in four languages: English, Polish, German and Spanish. Its lessons covered where to place the first bet of a surebet, middles, Asian handicaps, the mixed settlement rules of tennis and ice hockey, palpable errors and how quickly a bookmaker limits an account that keeps winning. The best of those lessons live on, rewritten with today's data, in our knowledge base.

Live arbitrage and a free mode, 2013

In 2013 Surebet Monitor got a free mode, and we teamed up with OddStorm, a live arbitrage alert service. Our series on in-play arbing covered the sports and markets where live surebets showed up most often, the bookmakers that suited it, which bet of a pair to place first, and why to stay away from the last minutes of a match.

Marathonbet's limit of 0 euros

Beside the scanner we played value bets on our own account, with bots we wrote ourselves. Marathonbet was known then for the lowest margins in the business, often above Pinnacle on football and tennis, but it corrected its prices late. Our bots caught the stale prices before the bookmaker did, so Marathonbet cut our accounts to 1 euro a bet.

There were so many late prices that we kept winning even at a euro. In December 2013 Marathonbet lowered the limit to zero and stopped taking our bets altogether. We described it on the blog in "Marathonbet limit 0 EUR – the ultimate crusade against sharp action", which you can still read in the Internet Archive.

Surebet Monitor today

The scanner no longer runs. Bookmakers price faster than they did in 2011 and limit winning accounts sooner, so we put our time into what still helps every arbitrage bettor: the math. What we look for in a scanner today is in arbitrage betting software, and how surebets work in numbers in what is arbitrage betting.

The surebet calculator splits your stake across two or three bets so every result pays the same. It handles stake tax (such as Poland's 12%), tax-free bets, refunds and the half results of Asian lines, and its catalog lists nearly 20,000 combinations of bets that together cover every score. It runs in your browser: the odds and stakes you type are not sent to us.

Betting tips, team and player streaks, a club Elo ranking and our other calculators are on our sister site, SharkBetz.
